Lane E. Bender is a seasoned trial and appellate litigator.  Most recently, Mr. Bender has expanded his area of emphasis to include serving as General Counsel for several related commercial real estate and property management companies doing business throughout California, Arizona, Nevada and other states.

Mr. Bender’s General Counsel duties include: Contract review, management of litigation (business, employment, general liability) and alternative dispute resolution; Advising CEOs and management on legal and insurance-related matters; Facilitating conflict resolution; Quickly learning and advising on new areas of the law to meet the demands of multi-state multi-faceted businesses; Working with Human Resources, Tax, Finance, Accounting and Collections personnel and vendors in risk management, cost-control measures and overall strategic planning.

Mr. Bender’s Real Estate and Corporate transactional duties include: Handling acquisitions and sales of commercial properties (shopping centers) valued between $10 million to $25 million; Handling due diligence and valuation analysis for potential commercial property acquisitions; Preparing, negotiating and enforcing leases, land acquisition and sales agreements; Managing vendor contracts and company insurance matters as they relate to tenants and vendors; Managing insurance professionals on company insurance portfolios; Managing and monitoring LLC and corporate compliance on a multi-state scale.

Mr. Bender obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990 and his law degree from Whittier College in 1993. Mr. Bender is admitted to practice law in California and Pennsylvania before the following Courts: U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania; U.S. Court of Appeals, 3rd Circuit; U.S. District Court, Central District of California; U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit; U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. Mr. Bender is also a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, Retired.


 

Mr. Bender’s Litigation and Pre-litigation management duties include: Tendering claims made against the companies to insurers and other third-parties; Hands-on conflict resolution with the goal of early resolution without expensive litigation; Working closely with AR departments on difficult collection matters; Facilitating win-win settlements of collections, real estate and business disputes and litigations; Managing outside counsel with the goal of maximizing client benefits and streamlining legal spending.
